Leadership Exercise

1. What would your life be like now had you not made the decisions that you did? I probably would not be as close to my friend as I am now. He was a friend at my training and we went on to different bases but he would always ask me for advice about his potential girlfriends. Its a funny situation, you have to wonder how that could be leadership. Well, I think it is cause he’s always asking for advice now and telling me that I’m a great friend and he can always count on me.

2. How did you feel as a leader? I dont think it was much of me feeling as a leader as it was for me to be glad to help a friend. Its nice to know he considers me someone that he can count on. I’ve always wanted to be that type of friend to people. Someone they trusted and relied on.

3. How can you apply what you learned from that moment to future potential leadership moments that may

arise? I dont know if I can give the excat same advice as I did with my friend in other situations but I know I can take a step back and look in the issue and give my thought on what the right thing would be on how to handle it. I understand this might not work with every issue but instead of acting and asking questions later this might help show people that to understand the problem might be a better help then wondering why it went wrong later.

Creed Exercise

What are your top 3 beliefs? Why? How did you come to those realizations? What was a situation where this

belief was exemplified? My first belief would be that Family is important. Some people dont even have family and that makes me cherrish the fact that I do have a family. You only get on mom and dad. I’m the kid that only has a mom and that means only one grandma and grandpa. When my grandpa died it was hard on the family and I still remember his last words to me. So I know family only comes once and to cherrish them.

My second belief would be that I know my heart lies in Astronomy and that becoming an Astronaut is the correct path for me to follow. There are some things people just know by feelings and I know that this is it. My mom always tells me when I was a baby I was always looking at the sky. It was just ment to be.

My third belief is that the Jedi path for me is the right one. In the same instance as my second belief its just a feeling that you know its right for you. You cant explain it, you cant see it, but you can you feel it. I can feel something around me, guiding me. I know this is the right journey I need to make in my life.

Spirituality Exercise

1. Where have your spiritual beliefs originated? For instance, were you raised with a religion, or were

religious and spiritual topics never addressed in your house? I was rasied with the christian religion, non denomational, cant spell that lol. Ever since I was a little kid I was going to a certain church.

2. How do you know when you are doing the right thing vs. the wrong thing? Do you base this on external

laws (like the 10 commandments, or the laws of your country)? Do you listen to your conscience, even

though it may go against the standard ‘rules’ of society? I guess I base my actions on how I was raised. I was raised to believe this was wrong, this was right. And tv has a big influence as well in this. I was the kid that loved Ninja Turtles and saw them saving people. Socity has a big influence on you when your a young kid learning the do’s and dont’s of the world.

3. What are your beliefs about death? Do you believe we have one lifetime or more in physical

form? What do you believe happens when you die? Where did these beliefs come from? I cant really say that I’ve thought about this a whole lot in my life. These things kind of get me to feel a little weird. The thought of not thinking again or breathing just kind of creeps me out. I think we do have one lifetime. Its ours to decide how we want to spend it. After taking a good long time to think about this, I do believe we all in spirit, not body, go somewhere after we pass. Weather thats Heaven or Hell or anywhere else its hard to say. I was raised to believe we go to Heaven if we follow and accept Christ as our Saviour. For me, I think maybe what can be considered Heaven by one person might be completely different for another. I think in spirit we go somewhere to see our loved ones or to wait for them.  But to where I dont know.

4. Do you believe in God of some kind? If so, what are the primary characteristics of this God? If not, why

do you believe this? I think there is a higher being out there that is watching over us and if you wish to call him/her God then thats cool. I think in a way its God but as I learn more about the Jedi path and follow I’m more inclined to call it the Force. Why cant I call God the Force? The Force is what we learn from, want to be apart of. God teaches us through the bible and we pray to him to be apart of him. I dont see whats wrong with believing in that. However, I’m still learning a lot of new things each day from my studies, that might change after a while. We’ll just have to wait and see.

5. What do you consider spiritual practices? Which do you practice (if any)? I think praying would be a spiritual practice along with studying the Bible. Now as far as meditation goes I’m in the middle on that one because meditation could be used to gain relaxation and a calmer mind, as well as to connect to the force which in some cases people believe to be God. It can be used in multiple ways. I think as I learn more about meditation and get the hang of it I’ll be doing that more to connect to the Force and find my inner peace.

Communication Exercise

What surprised you about each lesson?

2 truths and a lie- i have to say with this exercise maybe I didnt pick the right people. First my mom, then my grandma and my aunt, they all thought I was nuts for askin them to tell me these things lol. One thing however I did notice was that they tend to squint their eyes when they were telling a lie. All 3 of em. It was kind of odd. Though my grandma did look around a lot when she lied.

Asking Questions- Well this was a lot to take in. To come up with the questions was the hard part I think. My thing about this was to make sure I didnt ask dumb questions or the person answering would loose intrest. It went well at the end and we laughed as some stories were told with a few of the questions but all in all I think its the questions being asked that mattered.

Upon reflection, what do you think could be the next step in learning how to communicate as a Jedi? The best way in my opinion to learn to communicate would be knowing what the proper questions to ask are. I understand that no one can create a list of what to ask for every single situation but if we know how to communicate with really big issues we might be able to figure out in our own personal lives how to communicate in a situation we have not trained on.

What questions did these lessons bring to mind? A few things popped in my head. Are these the right questions? Am I asking the right person these things? More along those lines I’m thinking.

“Why Jedi?”

Part 1: Discovering the Path

What first inspired you to seek the Jedi path in your life? I was searching for a school online to just learn, I wasnt able to go to college due to the family situation and somehow i stumbbled on thejedi.org. I read info on what it was about and looked into other sites as well. I thought about it for about 2 months, really searched info on everything and even talked to instructors at JEDI. After those 2 months I started training. However, the family situation got worse within that first month and sadly I had to walk away. I regretted leaving JEDI but my family needed me more then ever. But now I’m back to start all over.

Were there any key events around that time that caused you to seek this path? I first got into the Jedi Path over 5 years ago. I was a teenager then and things in my life werent what you would call normal. Family was sick and depended on me to drive them to the doctor every other day and I had to quit my job to be able to keep up with the 10 to 12 hours a week driving.

How did you find this training? Have you received any other training elsewhere (online or off)? I went searching for thejedi.org about 2 weeks ago actually and sadly have found that they no longer exist. I know that some of the instructors from there are here and I feel that this is a great place to start. I also have found the jedi academy online and I’m enrolled there as well. I have not started classes there yet but plan to in the next week.

Part 2: The View Along the Way

How would you define a Jedi? A Jedi, to me, would be someone who stands up for whats right and doesnt pass judgement on people. However, still holds everyone up to the standard that they know how to act respectfully. A Jedi would be someone that anyone could look up to for guidance.

What aspects of the Jedi do you aspire to? Or, what attributes of the Jedi do you want to incorporate into

yourself? I would like become someone who people can look to and be like okay theres someone we can trust, someone we can count on to help us. I wish to be full of knowledge in area of a Jedi so that one day I may pass on the skills that were taught to me.

What does it mean for you to be a Jedi in your society? I am in the military, I wish to keep the branch of service private, but being a Jedi in my society would be helpful. Others may not know it, but in a combat zone the training and ability to think logically could save lives. Any Jedi training would be helpful with the jobs I do and would help keep the level of stress down instead of the other way. It would mean a lot for me to become a Jedi.

Part 3: Looking forward

What are your goals in your Jedi training for the next 3 months? The next 6 months? The next year? For the next 3 months I wish to have routine schedule down so I can get my work done and get the training on its way. The next six months I wish to have at the least 3 classes done. The next year, I hope that I would be done with the novice training and moving on but thats still to far off for me to even be close to telling. LoL.

What do you anticipate will be your biggest challenge to reaching these goals? For instance, do you have

time constraints, family responsibilities, or health problems? The only challenge that I see might be the random new schedules or tasks that are sometimes thrown at you in my job. If something does become an issue I will make sure to address it right away. I dont wish to get behind. I’ve already went over 5 years without training.

Finally, I’d like to think about how you now feel about your Jedi path, having written these statements. Do

you feel inspired, excited, overwhelmed? Whatever comes to mind, try to express that into words as best

you can. Take some time and then try to come up with a reason why you feel the way you do? It’s ok if you

don’t come up with much of anything at first, but it’s a worthwhile exercise. I feel excited and nervous about learning. I know why I feel nervous because I dont feel like I’m the best student and I tend to be very hard on myself and sometimes I let myself down. I just hope that with this Jedi path I’m following I dont let myself or anyone down. I’m excited as anyone would be about starting a new chapter in their life. I hope that with this path I meet great people who will become mentors and I cant wait to learn.

Force Exercise

The results of the questionnaire:

physical intuitive= 26

emotional intuitive=39

mental intuitive=43

spiritual intuitive=35

As you have noticed I’m apart of the mental intuitive. I honestly thought I’d be apart of the emotional intuitive for the fact that I seem to put my emotions more into how I act then anything. But thats not a good part of me, in my opinion, my emotional actions arent always the best way to handle things. So I was really suprised to find out I’m apart of the mental intuitive. However, I see the similarties that were described in the text to me and I’m now understanding maybe there is more about myself I need to discover.

When I tried the meditation at first it was hard to keep still and hard to get all those rambling thoughts to stop. But once I finally got control of those and relaxed. I felt great. I havnt been that relaxed in a long time and it took a while for my body to figure out what was going on but when it did I never wanted to stop. It was hard to picture a place that has nature and where I’ve been. I ended up picturing my grandparents old house feeding the fish and the wind blowing in the tall grass. It was really nice because after I opened my eyes it took about 5 mintues before my head starting having a hundred thoughts going a mile a minute. LoL. It was just nice for those few mintues to have a clear head and just sit and enjoy the nice breeze blowin through the window. I hope to do this more often.
